Search Console Tutorial
How to request Google indexing for ecommerce pages
Use this checklist when Shopify, WooCommerce, or AEO landing pages are discovered but not indexed, or when a new sitemap needs to be picked up faster.
When should an ecommerce store request indexing?
Request indexing when you publish a new high-intent page, update a core landing page, fix canonical or sitemap issues, or see important URLs under “Discovered - currently not indexed.” Do not request every low-value filter URL; focus on pages that can rank or help Google understand your store.
Step-by-step Search Console process
- Submit your sitemap: go to Search Console → Sitemaps and submit
https://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. - Inspect the URL: paste the exact canonical URL, including the trailing slash if your site uses one.
- Run “Test live URL”: confirm Google can fetch the page and that it is not blocked by robots, noindex, or a redirect.
- Check canonical: the user-declared canonical should match the URL you want indexed.
- Request indexing: click the request button only after the live test is clean.
Which URLs should you submit first?
- Homepage and primary platform pages.
- New high-intent pages such as Shopify AEO and WordPress llms.txt.
- Top product collections and best-selling product pages.
- Helpful tutorials and question-answer pages that target real search queries.
- Pages with backlinks, app store links, or external mentions.
If Google still does not index the page
Improve the page before requesting again. Add unique answers, internal links, descriptive titles, structured data, and enough useful content. Thin pages that only repeat marketing copy are less likely to be indexed quickly.
FAQ
How long does Google indexing take after requesting?
It can take hours, days, or longer. Google does not guarantee indexing, so improve quality and links instead of repeatedly submitting the same URL.
Should I submit /llms.txt to Search Console?
Submit your sitemap and important HTML pages. Keep /llms.txt publicly accessible, but focus indexing requests on pages that should appear in search results.
Does submitting a sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. A sitemap helps discovery. Google still decides whether a URL is worth crawling and indexing.
